WILLIAMS COUNTY MAN INDICTED ON RAPE AND KIDNAPPING CHARGES
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has indicted a Williams County man for raping three children over a period of 11 years. Michael DeWine reports 40 year old Daniel Bignell is charged with five counts of Rape, two counts of Attempted Rape, 4 counts of Gross Sexual Imposition, and 3 counts of Kidnapping. The crimes allegedly occurred between 1999 and 2010, and began when the children were 13 years of age or younger. Each kidnapping count carries a sexual motivation specification.
The case moved forward after one of the victims, who’s now an adult, came forward.
If convicted, Bignell could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. He is currently being held at the Williams County Jail, in a case that is being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s special prosecution section.
And in Fulton County Common Pleas Court, 28 year old Laura Martinez of Delta pled guilty to Identity Fraud. Martinez was placed on community control for two years, and was ordered to serve 20 days at CCNO, with credit for time already served. A letter of apology to the victim was also required.
