SAVE MAUMEE GROUP PADDLES THROUGH HENRY COUNTY

How did you celebrate Earth Day?    A dedicated group of Ft. Wayne, Indiana residents have spent this past week paddling down the Maumee River, to draw attention to the condition of the water we drink, we ski in, and for some – swim in.                    Abbi King is coordinator for the ‘save Maumee’ organization.

From those days, the ‘save the maumee’ group have attracted hundreds of volunteers, with cleanup efforts, and a website  ‘savemaumee.org’

During Earth week, the group paddled from Ft.Wayne, heading toward the city of Toledo.

The group of 20 canoeists and road crew camped at RitterPark in Napoleon Wednesday night.  They were headed for Mary Jane Thurston State Park near Grand Rapids.
