PATRICK HENRY SCHOOL BOARD TALKS BUILDING PROJECT

The Patrick Henry school board of education talked in more depth about a possible building project to bring all students to one campus, during their Monday session.    The move would mean the closing of the Malinta-Grelton and Deshler facilities; which would save at least $350,000 per year for the district.   Plans include adding restrooms and play areas for pre-school and kindergarten children, along with a new elementary wing.   The cost of this addition could be paid by adding a .9 mill onto the current permanent improvement levy, taking it to a replacement levy of 1.9 mills.  The Patrick Henry board is talking about placing that on the May 2014 ballot for consideration.   There would also be huge savings in bussing costs for this move.

In personnel action; the Patrick Henry board accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Kuhbander as assistant treasurer, after serving the district for 30 years.

And supplemental coaching contracts were approved for Jill Prigge as assistant girls basketball coach, Mike Meyer as assistant boys basketball,  Nick Girlie as varsity assistant in wrestling, along with Tyler Meyer in freshman basketball.           The Patrick Henry board also approved overnight trips for the wrestling team in January.
