ODOT RELEASES PREFERRED ALIGNMENT FOR DAMASCUS BRIDGE ON ROUTE 109

The Ohio Department of Transportation has released their selection of a preferred alternative alignment for a new bridge for route 109 over the Maumee River in Henry County.  ODOT hosted a public hearing to provide information for local residents, and to gather input from the community on their preference for this bridge construction.

Mike Gramza is district planning administrator with the ODOT office in Bowling Green, and reports the best alignment heads straight south from route 109, and crosses the river on a diagonal span, to link with the current site of the south edge of the Damascus Bridge.

The total cost of the new bridge to replace the current Damascus Bridge south of Liberty Center is estimated at 16.4 million dollars.
