NAPOLEON PARKS AND REC BOARD APPROVES BUDGET, NO FEE INCREASE
There was plenty of number-crunching at the Wednesday meeting of the Napoleon Parks and Recreation board. A balanced budget was presented for 2014; and it does not include the need for a subsidy from the Napoleon general fund. Revenue at the golf course is up over $52,000 from two years ago; while expenditures have been reduced. Cutbacks in personnel were also a key factor in trimming expenditures in parks and recreation for Napoleon, with 4 part-time employees released. And the income tax for recreation produced 4% more revenue than the year before.
There was discussion about raising rec fees for non-residents of Napoleon, to help generate more revenue; but the motion was defeated, and the recommendation was to keep rates the same for 2014.
And a motion was made to create a facebook page to provide information to the public on programs and rates.
