ICE CAUSES DAMAGE TO BOAT DOCK AREA IN NAPOLEON

Huge chunks of ice are causing problems for Napoleon’s boating community.   Napoleon Parks and Recreation Director Tony Cotter reports ice on the Maumee River has taken-out one of the anchoring posts for the new boat docks.  He says it’s difficult to tell if the post is actually broken off and lying on the river bottom, or was just bent over.   Contacts have been made with the company that installed the boat docks in 2007; along with the insurance company, to see about damage.     They hope to install a new anchoring post for the dock this spring.

And plans for a new recreation volleyball program in Napoleon have been put on-hold until the high school names a new varsity coach.
