A two vehicle crash in Defiance County has taken the life of a northwest Ohio driver. The state highway patrol investigated the crash at Banner School Road and Carpenter Road in TiffinTownship Saturday at . 62 year old Janice Thompson of Defiance was southbound on Carpenter Road, and failed to stop for the posted sign. Her auto was struck broadside by a vehicle driven by 74 year old Edward Osborn of rural Defiance. Janice Thompson suffered fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger in her car was also injured; and was transported to St. VincentMedicalCenter by Life Flight. Edward Osborn and a passenger were transported to the DefianceRegionalMedicalCenter with minor injuries. Assisting at the scene were the Defiance County Sheriff’s office, along with Richland and Jewell fire departments.
The Henry County Sheriff’s office checked-out a crash Sunday at on state route 18 in MarionTownship, at route 109. 54 year old Debra Downey of Alpha, Ohio pulled into the intersection, and her vehicle was struck by a southbound auto driven by 68 year old Darlene Oberhaus of Wauseon. Both Downey and Oberhaus were transported to the HenryCountyHospital by the South Joint Ambulance District, along with 41 year old Esther Oberhaus of Wauseon. Another passenger, 68 year old Frederick Oberhaus of Wauseon was taken to the ToledoHospital by ProMedica Air helicopter.
The sheriff’s office is also looking for two subjects in connection with a robbery and abduction incident that took place at the MaryJaneThurstonState Park camping area just west of Grand Rapids. On Friday night, a resident of Chile, who’s staying in Ottawa, was camping at the park, when he was taken from his site, and robbed. The 47 year old male victim was then driven all night long around northwest Ohio, and reportedly ended-up near Findlay, where he was released unharmed. Law officers are looking for a white male, and a black male subject in connection with this crime.
The sheriff’s office picked-up a subject wanted by Municipal Court Friday night at East and Wabash Streets in LibertyCenter. 29 year old Michael Schwan of LibertyCenter was wanted for Contempt of Court. But it was also discovered Schwan was allegedly involved with a methamphetamine lab discovered at 109 Mary Ann Street. Schwan was transported to the regional jail.
